Major induction evening for Rotarians

Several new members joined the Rotary Club of Benoni on Tuesday, May 12, and the first Rotaract Club in several decades was inaugurated.

Bronwen de Fin, Leana Breedt, Marietjie Breedt, Rika Marais and Anthony Atkinson were inducted into the Rotary Club as new members.

The Phoenix Rotaract Club of Benoni is made up of the newly inducted Kim Tasker and the founders, Mangi (Junior) Arrey, Matthew Lloyd, Theresa Chisanga, Brenden Moyo, Nivashnie Pillay and Meggan Williams.

Mangi Arrey was inducted as president of the new Rotaract Club and received the Charter Certificate for the club from Sheryl Naidoo, who runs the Interact Club at Willowmoore High School.

The Willowmoore Interact Club already has more than 400 members in the school, which makes it one of the largest in the world, according to Ian Williams, Rotary Club of Benoni president.

The new members were inducted on the condition that they follow the principles of the club, including selflessness, service and commitment.
