A woman, whose identity is unknown, stopped at the intersection of Snake and Modderbee roads, on Friday, at 5pm.
“She stopped at the intersection and her driver’s window was open as she was smoking,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.
“She was suddenly approached by a man who opened the driver’s door.
“He was joined by two other men.”
Sekele said one of the assailants was armed.
“The man who opened her door pulled her out of the car,” said Sekele.
She said the other two men assisted in pulling her out of the car.
The victim was blindfolded and shoved in the back of the vehicle.
The spokesperson said the men demanded the woman’s bank card, pin and a pen.
She was driven to an ATM, where she was reportedly told to withdraw R2 000.
Sekele said the woman was dropped off at the Northmead Mall after the ordeal.
According to a CMS Facebook post, paramedics were on scene.
As of this morning, police were unable to say what injuries the woman sustained, where money was withdrawn and whether they made off in the victim’s car.
A case of armed robbery has been opened at the Benoni Police Station.
