VIDEO: This show had audiences hooked

Arbor Primary School staged their own production, "Something Fishy", over the past two weekends of May, with the first show on Friday, May 22.

Four teachers from the school produced the play, assisted by a large crew of their colleagues.

Colleen Liebenberg, Adele Wright (writer), Dawn Viljoen (costumes) and Bridget van Zyl formed the main directing body of the play, which had been in preparation since January and included 87 pupils from Grades Four to Seven.

Brandon Mills, playing one of the main characters, Captain Cutlass, said it was hard work, especially with exams coming up, but he would definitely do it again.

“This is my second year in the school play; I didn’t expect a main role this year,” he added.

The story was loosely based on “The Little Mermaid”, mixed together with a tale of sailors and cannibals.

The pupils performed various songs during the fast-paced sea adventure, against a set of intricate backgrounds and stage props.
