Whitford requests community members who have had their homes broken into, or residents who may be missing items from their homes, to report this to the police.
On June 29, at 5pm, the Crystal Park SAPS received a tip-off about a person getting onto a taxi with a plasma TV.
The police responded and manage to track down the taxi on Birch Road, where a search was conducted.
They found a 29-year-old man who had a plasma TV and various other goods in his possession.
Crystal Park Police Station media liaison officer Tryna Maritz said the man was questioned and claimed that he had found the goods in the veld and decided to take them for himself.
The suspect was arrested and detained by the Crystal Park SAPS for being in possession of presumed stolen goods.
Investigations are under way to establish where the goods were stolen from.
The items include a plasma TV, speakers, a printer, a DVD player, a remote control, a kettle and clothing.
