They have saved lives, now you must vote
Two Ekurhuleni emergency service members have been selected as Centrum Guardian 2015 finalists.
These finalists are Ekurhuleni’s very own heroes, because of their selfless acts of bravery to save the lives of many on a daily basis.
Centrum Guardians was created as a platform where South African emergency services personnel are recognised and shown appreciation for all that they do.
Cynthia Maqungu, a reservist firefighter for Ekurhuleni Emergency Services is one of the finalists who were nominated from Ekurhuleni.
Maqungu saved three people from a burning shack in the Ramaphosa Informal Settlement, where she also lives.
Michael Callow, an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic with 24 years of service in the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, is the second Ekurhuleni finalist to be nominated.
Callow saved the life of an innocent bystander, as well as two Metro Police officers.
One of the officers was shot three times and the other 12 times, during one of the bloodiest shootouts in the city’s history.
Ekurhuleni residents are encouraged to watch the finalists’ stories and to vote for their favourite nominee on the Centrum Guardians website, at www.centrumguardians.com.
Voting is open from now until noon on August 20, 2015.
The winner walks away with a cash prize and the winner’s base station will also receive prize money, in order to enhance their training, so they can successfully continue saving the lives of Ekurhuleni residents.
