Man critical after falling off scaffolding at school

A man was flown to hospital this morning (September 17) after he fell off scaffolding at Arbor Primary School.

The man, who is apparently in his 40s, is believed to have fallen around 5m and landed on his head.

A former paramedic and father of a pupil at the school, Robert Niterl, was in the school’s office when the incident happened.

He arrived on scene and was told by the man’s co-workers that the man had fallen on his head.

ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt said the victim sustained head injuries and was in a critical condition.

He was placed on a manual ventilator and was flown by helicopter to the Milpark Hospital.

The school said they would comment when they have more details about the incident.
