Pedestrian airlifted after accident

A pedestrian sustained severe injuries to his head, chest and legs, after being hit by two light motor vehicles on the R21, on November 12.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, when the ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found the man lying in the fast lane of the road.

“The two vehicles had stopped some distance away from the lane,” said Meiring.

“On assessment, paramedics found that the man was in a critical condition.”

The patient was airlifted to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment.

The drivers of the two vehicles did not sustain serious injuries.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
