Wattville Library renamed

A official renaming ceremony was held in Wattville on Tuesday, November 24.

Dignitaries who attended the event included Premier David Makhura, Ekurhuleni Mayor Mondli Gungubele and Deputy Mayor of the City of Reggio Emilia, Serena Foracchia.

Also in attendance was Bruna Socini, the wife of Giuseppe Soncini.

Giuseppe was an Italian councillor of the town Reggio Emilia, in Italy.

He was a driving force behind the initiative of the 1970s pact of solidarity between that city and the ANC.

Gungubele said the renaming of the library showed the city’s acknowledgement of the work done by Giuseppe and his wife.
