One killed, another injured in New Modder accident
A 50-year-old man was killed and another was injured this morning (January 12), when a taxi and a light motor vehicle collided on New Modder Road.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on scene they found that a taxi had collided with the side of the light motor vehicle.
“Both vehicles had sustained a heavy amount of damage in the collision,” he added.
“On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying a few metres from the light motor vehicle.”
Meiring said the man had already succumbed to multiple fatal injuries and was declared dead on scene, while the taxi driver was found lying next to his vehicle, having sustained only moderate injuries.
Paramedics treated the taxi driver and transported him to a provincial hospital for further treatment.
Authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
