Pioneers enjoy new years luncheon

The Benoni Pioneers Association held a luncheon on Wednesday, January 20, at Mike's Kitchen, at the Rynfield Terrace Shopping Centre.

Members were in attendance along with partners and friends.

President of the association, Sam Grolman, welcomed guests and presented Brenda McDonald (secretary for the Pioneers) with a honorary life member certificate for dedication and commitment to the Pioneers and other organisations over the years.

She has been a Pioneer for over 15 years, holding the position of secretary since 1998.

The Benoni Pioneers Association is a social club for residents of Benoni who share a love for their town.

It was established by Morrie Nestadt in 1934.

The association currently has 20 members who meet every three months.

The pioneers are looking for more people to join their ranks.

If you are interested in joining and have lived in Benoni for 25 years or longer, contact McDonald on 011 849 1935 or 073 423 3280.
