National Police Day embraced

The six police stations within the Benoni SAPS cluster celebrated National Police Day on January 27, at the Actonville Stadium.

The celebration serves as a commemoration of all SAPS members.

Pastors Mish Makula and Cliff Sekele spoke to the crowd.

Benoni SAPS acting station commander Col Martin van Nieuwenhuizen said National Police Day is a day to celebrate the successes achieved by police and a day to remember fallen colleagues.

“We also refocus on the police’s ‘Back to Basics’,” said van Nieuwenhuizen.

“The ‘Back to Basics’ [initiative] is a police recovery plan, where we focus on every police officer doing the basics of policing and on doing these basics properly and consistently.”

The police members played soccer, took part in an egg race, socialised and were entertained with music.
