Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) said the shutdown in supply would last from 8pm until midnight, while an 800mm main supply pipe would be repaired.
This comes after the pipe, on the corner of Fifth and North roads, in Van Ryn Small Holdings, burst early last week, leaving parts of Benoni without water as a temporary repair was made.
According to Clr Stefanie Kruger (Ward 24), a clamp was put on the pipe last week.
She said a section of several metres in length would be replaced during the work on March 3.
“The areas to be affected include the whole of Cloverdene and Crystal Park,” said EMM spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.
EMM was asked whether other suburbs, including Morehill, would be affected, though no other areas were included in the warning.
Gadebe said no water tankers would be provided as the operation will take place at night.
“The EMM wishes to apologise for any inconvenience to be caused and assures residents that, should repairs not be completed within the stipulated time, work will continue until the supply is restored,” Gadebe added.
“Consumers are reminded to keep all taps closed for the duration of the interruption.”
