Amanda’s amazing opportunity

Being a mother is a job all by itself, but being a mother, business owner, wife and semi-finalist in the Schwarzkopf Mrs SA 2016 competition is going to require some help from fellow Benonians.

Amanda Ioannoy is a proud Benonian who has been living here for almost a decade.

She has been married for 10 years to Nicholas Ioannoy and has three children: stepson Andrea (18) and daughters Gabriella (six) and Georgina (five).

“I would love the opportunity to be a voice for change,” is why Ioannoy needs Benoni’s vote of support.

“Change starts from home, which is the community,” she explained.

“I also want to help young ladies to develop their confidence, because the youth are the future.”

The beauty is the owner of a corporate gifting and clothing company based on the East Rand.

She is also a director of Denvee investments, in the reality sector.

Because she is a firm believer that charity starts at home, she contributed to the university fees of her domestic helper’s son, Thabiso Ramohola Shortley.

She also paid to rebuild her gardener Solomon Biphosa’s home after it was flooded.

“I would like to instil life skills in the early foundation phase of learning,” she said.

“Someone once said that the more you do, the more you get done.”

Ioannoy considers herself to be an active person and knows that she will strive to make a bigger change than she already does in South Africa, if given the opportunity.

“By overcoming my own personal trials and tribulations, I want to build off the Mrs SA platform and empower women,” she said.

“I am so excited to be a top 100 semi-finalist.

“It is a platform with which I can reach the youth, but also an opportunity to give back to the community.”

She aims to contribute to the building of a generation who have faith and believe in not only themselves, but also in a society that stands united with the same goal in focus.

Her role model is her mother, Lynne Cheshire, who was the first female president of the Germiston Chamber of Commerce in the 1990s, and who taught her that nothing is impossible.

The top 25 finalists will be chosen on April 29, at the Emperors Palace Cansa gala dinner.
