Guy gets round to clearing his wardrobe and finds he is R20-million richer

The Canadian cleared his wardrobe at his sister’s bidding so that his old clothes could be donated to charity and found an unchecked lotto ticket in a jacket pocket.

A Montreal man who eventually got round to clearing his wardrobe, after his sister kept nagging him to do so so his old clothes could be donated to charity, ended up being R20-mllion richer for taking the trouble.

While going through the clothes he intended discarding Gregorio De Santis found an unchecked Quebec-Loto ticket in a jacket pocket. Lottery participants on EuroMillions are familiar with stories of lost and missing tickets.

He bought the ticket on December 6 last year then forgot about though four tickets had jointly won the jackpot that week.

Three winners cashed in but one claim remained outstanding 10 months later, two months before it would have expired.  When Gregorio had his ticket validated it turned out he was the missing winner.

Gobsmacked by the unexpected turn of events, Gregorio plans to use the windfall to bolster is retirement funding and to treat his nephew to a few hockey matches.
