
All six escaped from the court’s holding cells just after lunch on Thursday (May 19) without police officers noticing.
The accused had appeared before the magistrate in connection with several crimes, including armed robbery, rape and housebreaking – and were again remanded in custody before police officers led them to the court’s holding cells.
When it was time for them to be taken back to custody, six of the 13 suspects who had been in the holding cell were nowhere to be found.
