SPCA a safe haven for donkeys

Eight donkeys are recovering well at the Benoni SPCA after the society took them in on February 24.

The NSPCA rescued the animals from illegal skin traders, in the Sani Pass.

They were handed over to the SPCA in Benoni due to the space available to tend to the donkeys’ needs.

According to the NSPCA, donkeys are being slaughtered for their skins which are salted and packaged for use as traditional medicine.

The donkeys that are currently in the SPCA’s care will be put up for adoption when they are healthy enough to leave the premises.
