Last Christmas gifts for Barc

The Benoni Animal Rescue Centre (Barc) received the final load of donations made by community members during the festive season.

Northmead Square placed baskets in front of some stores in the shopping centre for donations of dog and cat food, toys and leashes.

The shopping centre also hosted two fund-raising campaigns for Barc.

One of the projects were wrapping Christmas gifts for donations and the other was the Tree of Remembrance.

The Tree of Remembrance allowed shoppers to buy a bauble for R20 for the centre’s Christmas tree.

They were made from wood and participants wrote a name of a lost loved one or pet on it to honour their lives.

Charmaine Woest, one of Barc’s directors, said the two initiatives raised a sum of R18 560.
