Two hours to recover stolen bakkie

The vehicle was stolen in Pretoria.

A bakkie that was stolen in Pretoria was recovered in less than two hours later in Cloverdene, Benoni.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, said the Ford Ranger was stolen in Lynwood at about 10.30am on February 9.

“With information of its movement from Tracker SA, the EMPD Equestrian Unit members were able to trace it to Benoni where it was found abandoned,” said Kgasago.

“The stolen Ford Ranger was recovered at about 12.10pm in Cloverdene, Benoni.”

Kgasago said the dashboard was stripped and the ignition damaged.

“Apparently, the thieves grew cold feet when realising they could not locate the tracker unit and decided to abandon the vehicle.”

No arrests have been made.
