Pops Toys hosted a Lego Expo at Northmead Square on March 24 and 25.

The Lego structures amazed visitors of all ages as exhibitors showed their work.

Excited children were beguiled by the Lego structures, with some having real-life mechanical features.

But what adults often forget is that Lego building has no age restriction.

The City Times spoke to 48-year-old Dewald van Vuuren, an exhibitor from Pretoria, about why Lego isn’t just for children.

Van Vuuren said his mother once said he must throw away his Lego collection, but he said he couldn’t do it.

“I know a guy who parks his car, and makes his wife park her car in a certain way in order to use their double garage as a Lego room,” he said.

He added that he is a member of Lego User Group South Africa (zaLUG).

This is a national group for adult Lego enthusiasts.
