Man arrested for being in possession of live ammunition

Police received a tip-off.

Police arrested a 46-year-old man for being in possession of eleven live ammunition this morning (April 5).

The man was arrested in Mayfield Extension Nine, Putfontein at about 6am.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said the arrest was made by the Putfontein SAPS members in conjunction with the EMPD Brakpan Tracing Unit after they received a tip-off from community members.

“While searching the premises, police discovered  11 rounds of live ammunition in a plastic bag,” said Ramaube.

Police are still searching for the firearm.

The man is charged for being in possession of live ammunition.

He is detained at the Putfontein Police Station and will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
