Armed robbery suspects caught in the act

Grant Giblin said police take pride in their work.

Two suspects, aged 34 and 36, were arrested by the Benoni Flying Squad inside a business in Benoni South.

“At about 1pm members responded to a complaint of an armed robbery in progress at a supermarket in Lincoln Road,” said Benoni Flying Squad spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin.

“Upon arrival they found two suspects on the premises and they were arrested immediately.

“A 9mm Norinco pistol, with the serial number filed off, and one round of ammunition was also recovered.”

Giblin added that a white Isuzu bakkie, which was used by the suspects, was also impounded.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on charges of armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
