Kids Haven needs more items to sell
Kids Haven raised about R14 000 with a book sale, recently.
The event was held outside the Victorian Secret on May 27 and the money raised will go to the education programmes at Kids Haven.

“Our history is firmly embedded in Benoni and we want to grow our place in the area even more as an organisation focused on the protection of children,” said co-ordinator for fund-raising Susan Daly.
“If more people knew who they can call, then children will be better protected.
Daly said she is uncertain when the next book sale will take place, but books are still on sale at both their charity shops.
“The newer bestseller books are at the TAIT House charity shop, which is on the corner of Woburn Avenue and Russell Street,” she said.
“The opening hours are Sunday to Monday from 8am to 4pm.”
“Our other charity shop is at the centre, 34 Cranbourne Avenue, and this is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.”
“We also sell collectables here and good quality glassware and homeware at the TAIT House,” Daly said.
“Our charity shop in Cranbourne Avenue sells clothing, books, toys and some furniture.”

“All of the goods for sale are second hand,” Daly explained.
“We don’t sell new items – all of the goods for sale are excess to what we need for the children living here.
“We don’t sell anything that we can use ourselves but the charity shop is an excellent way to generate money for Kids Haven for programmes that we run here while providing a service to our community who would like to buy items from us at low prices.”
Daly said they welcome donations and always look through every bag or box to first take out what they need for the children before selling the excess.
