City Times supports Panties and Bras for a Purpose
The campaign aims to help underprivileged girls and women who have little to no underwear or sanitary products.

The City Times, as a Caxton Cares initiative, is supporting the Panties and Bras for a Purpose campaign, which aims to help underprivileged girls and women who have little to no underwear or sanitary products.
Florence Khoza, a founding member of Panties and Bras for a Purpose, explained the aim of this campaign is to shine a spotlight on disadvantaged young girls and to help empower them and develop their potential.
“We made it our priority to ensure that no girl will be deprived of her education because of a lack of sanitary pads, school stationery or uniforms.
“We also believe that social and economic empowerment of women is the beginning of the end of poverty in our communities,” she said.
According to Khoza, many girls don’t take part in extra-mural activities at school or are absent from school because they do not have the necessary underwear, tampons and pads, or wear the same underwear every day because they have nothing else, which raises health concerns.
The Panties and Bras for a Purpose campaign is an annual initiative which is taking place in Gauteng and Durban at the moment, with the aim of being implemented in other provinces.
The public is encouraged to donate new bra’s and panties and sanitary products at the City Times offices at Northmead Square.
