The Benoryn Lions Branch Club recently treated the children and teachers of The Las Vegas Day Care Centre in Etwatwa to a day at the Benoni Bird and Monkey Park.
Leslie Young, Benoryn Lions Branch Club president, said the Las Vegas Day Care Centre is one of their main projects and they support them with grocery deliveries every second month.
Young said during their outing, the learners, teachers and carers had a wonderful day gaping at huge snakes and reptiles and laughing at cheeky monkeys.

“A few of the older children got some personal time with Lisa, a lemur, and a lot of new information was gleaned from the walk-about we all enjoyed,” said Young.
She added the children got to enjoy hot dogs, ice cream and cool drinks during lunchtime while keeping a close eye on the wandering peacocks, pea-hens and the very bold roosters.
The club also sponsored the founder of the day care centre, Gogo Shadie Nkambule, with spectacles.
They also donated a carpet for the children’s classroom (which is a container) and they also assisted her with jumble sale items so she can generate funds for the school.
Young said this was the first outing with the children and hopefully, it will not be the last.
