Retirement home turns into a carnival to mark its 50th birthday

Popcorn, candy floss, games and a photo booth kept everyone busy during all the breaks and most left the booth laughing as they wore crazy props for their photos.

Methodist Homes hosted a carnival for all residents and staff at the Fairleads Retirement Village on January 28 in celebration of their 50th birthday.

The show was presented by Tandem Flame Entertainment (TFE) which gave residents a much-needed escape from their daily routine, with some acts leaving all who watched amazed at what they could do.

Landi Schroeder showed off her hula hooping skills, while Crazy P amazed residents with his skills on the unicycle and magician Marcos Oliveira wowed everyone with his magic tricks.

Walter Pohl won the photo competition where residents had to submit a photo of themselves taken about 50 years ago.

His winnings included a professional photo shoot and he is the official brand ambassador for the retirement village.

“I took this picture many years ago, when I was still young and about to leave home,” he said.

The day ended with more hot dogs, slush puppies and a final fire show from TFE.
