Rynfield residents are fed up with road conditions on Boundary road after years of requesting a complete resurface of the road, which has been a fruitless exercise.
They have to deal with constant potholes that are being patched.
Zubair Yusuf, who uses the road frequently, said he had requested the resurface for over five years and ward 24 councillor Kabelo Mahonko said that it would be done.
The councillor had confirmed on August 1, 2019, that she has spoken to the relevant department regarding the matter.

“Nothing has happened since and no progress updates have been communicated to me,” Yusuf said, adding that during a community meeting called by Mahonko on February 6, he enquired why she had not responded to his messages regarding an update of which she has responded that she was busy and will get to it.
While residents wait on a progress report regarding the resurfacing, Yusuf said he had lodged a complaint on December 13, 2019, as yet another pothole had formed on the road and was told that there would be a 24-hour turnaround time, which was not honoured.
“I called again on December 31, January 14, and 27. I even escalated the matter to our ward councillor and to this date, the potholes have not been sorted out,” he said
According to the Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, the metro started patching Boundary road on February 10 and will be completed on February 19.
“There are other community members who have been complaining about the lack of service delivery in the area,” concluded Yusuf.
