More drug arrests in Benoni by EMPD

Both detained suspects facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substance are expected to appear at the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers ensured two suspects were arrested in the Chief Luthuli Park and Etwatwa area on September 4 following a crime prevention operation.

“The DEU also seized Mandrax, nyaope and marijuana,” said EMPD spokesperson, Kobeli Mokhenseng.

“On Marasela Street, a suspicious 30-year-old was handcuffed after officers uncovered 38 Mandrax tablets and 13 knotted plastics, containing nyaope valued at R2 160. The suspect was taken to the Etwatwa Police Station.”

On Toatree Street, at the Chief Luthuli Park, the team caught a 33-year-old found in possession of 96 ziplocks, one plastic packet of dagga valued at R5 385 and R500 cash.

“The offender was escorted to Daveyton Police Station,” Mokheseng said.
