Time to order a Lions Christmas cake

Every cent raised from the sale of Christmas cakes goes to community projects the Lions clubs are involved in

It’s that time of the year again already – time to support Lions clubs by buying one of their Christmas cakes, proceeds of which go to their community projects.

The Benoni Lakes and the Benoni Host club will be selling cakes this year.

Benoni Lakes already has stock and is taking orders, while Benoni Host is taking orders but their cakes will only be available mid-October.

President of Benoni Lakes Lions Beaulieu Maré, said this year the baker, was instructed to double up on the ingredient which makes these cakes so special – the kindness factor.

“Baked with love, you can eat away happily, knowing your purchase of a Lions Christmas cake has helped someone less fortunate,” she said.

About the cakes:
• They are 1kg
• The cakes are square (150 x 150 x 55mm)
• They are un-iced
• The cakes contain no alcohol
• A cake costs R125

Beaulieu highlights the cakes make good corporate gifts for customers and staff.

“Apart from this, they are ideal stocking fillers for grannies, aunties or neighbours – in fact, why not buy a box of 12 and put them under the Christmas tree for those unexpected visitors?” she asked.

“The best part is you can give the cake to someone just as it is because they come in beautiful packaging. Otherwise, the box is very easy to wrap. It’s always meaningful to receive something which you know has benefited the less fortunate.”
