EMPD makes arrests in Daveyton

The trio is facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances and is expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court.

A recent night shift crime prevention operation held by the EMPD led to eight arrests in Daveyton and Kempton Park.

“The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) members arrested eight male suspects, where forged official documents were confiscated, undocumented persons detained and narcotics seized,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.

“In the Daveyton area on Duvala and Vivian streets, the DEU squad picked up three potential drug dealers.

“They were found in possession of 106 ziplock bags, 12 paper-wrapped packets, one plastic pack of dagga and 55 half and full Mandrax tablets valued at R26 600 and R446 cash.”

The trio is facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances and is expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court.

“In Kempton Park on West Street, the EMPD DEU team moved into a well-known shopping complex and five undocumented occupants were found preparing and printing matric certificates, security credentials, marriage licences and other official documents,” Mokheseng said.

They were arrested under the charges of the Immigrations Act, forgery, possession of state-owned resources/equipment and interfering with officer duties.
