A sweet treat delivered for some residents

The City Times was able to put a smile on many faces of residents who received a yummy surprise on Thursday.
With the November 20 edition, some of our readers received a free sample of Yum Yum chocolate spread, which is a first for Caxton Local Media.

According to Dejané Poil, head of retail marketing and innovation at Caxton Local Media, the company is offering a new service to brands – a try-before-you-buy sampling – and is hugely excited about this new service to its clients.

“These newspapers were chosen because of the target market they serve,” she said.

Clients can select any of the Caxton Local Media newspapers for this service.

“Wherever we deliver newspapers to households, sampling is possible,” said Dejané.

She stated their research team selects newspaper areas according to the target market the brand wants to reach.

“All brands are welcome to use our distribution channels and can contact Caxton Local Media or their local newspaper, and we will happily put together a strategy and costing,” she said.

Dejané added every sample provided by the client is delivered door-to-door by Caxton’s credible distribution service and trusted local newspaper.

The samples were, however, not delivered to flats and complexes.

Dejané explained this is because it cannot be guaranteed that the samples will be collected by the person in the flat or complex.

“Any passer-by can just collect all the samples and this will defeat the purpose of reaching as many consumers as possible,” she said.

“It is difficult to control theft where we do bulk drops. The samples are costly and the client/ brand needs to reach the target market they are aiming at.”
