The Ekurhuleni metro is in the process of finalising the termination of the current contractors working on the Northmead water tower and as a result, a completion date for the tower is yet to be announced.
According to the metro’s spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, a new contractor will be assigned to the project to complete the remaining scope.
“However, a new contractor can only be assigned once the current one is terminated and a new completion date will then be set.”
The construction of the 5.5 megalitres tower began in May 2018, intending to boost the water pressure in areas around Benoni.
The anticipated completion date was set for November 2018 and due to multiple delays, residents await a new completion date.
