Local resident making waves in the FMCG and manufacturing industry

The awards recognise young, talented employees between 28 to 40 years of age, and form part of a unique platform where winners can go beyond just the recognition for work already done and be inspired to reach for the stars.

Benoni resident Zainab Mohamed was recently recognised as one of the five young leaders within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and manufacturing industry at the Accenture Rising Star Awards.

The celebration of the 10th anniversary of the awards was held on October 21 at the Sandton Hilton. The awards recognise young, talented employees between 28 to 40 years of age, and form part of a unique platform where winners can go beyond just the recognition for work already done and be inspired to reach for the stars.

The former Wordsworth High School learner is an experienced brand strategist, innovative thinker and emerging leader with over eight years of experience within the FMCG sector.

She graduated cum laude from the University of Witwatersrand with a BCom Honour’s degree in marketing.

Zainab said driven by her love for consumers and brands as well as creating a team culture where people can thrive, she takes pride in providing the best strategies, campaigns, and direction to deliver on organisational goals.

“I started my career as a graduate with Kellogg’s, where I worked on several cereal brands and markets within the Asia Pacific region during my five-year tenure with them,” said Zainab.

“I’ve also worked on leading global fragrance brands such as Paco Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier during my time with African Sales Company. I then moved onto Mondelez International as the category brand manager for Candy where I worked on leading brands like Halls, Cadbury Eclairs and Endearmints.”

Zainab is the senior marketing manager at Juice for Africa with the Coca-Cola Company.
