Taxi driver seriously injured in early-morning crash on N12

Bystanders pulled the injured driver from the taxi.

ER24 found a taxi driver seriously injured at about 00:40 this morning (February 25) after his vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier on the N12 in Putfontein.

Communications officer Russel Meiring said paramedics found the taxi against the concrete barrier near the right-hand lane of the highway.

“The driver had been pulled from the taxi by bystanders and was seated against his vehicle.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition.

“The man was treated and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital for urgent treatment.

“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said Meiring.
