Police recover five stolen vehicles

In two separate incidents, two people were arrested in Long Street, Kempton Park, for being in possession of drugs.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) once again reported successes, arresting four suspects and recovering five stolen vehicles during routine weekend operations from February 24 to 27.

According to WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the unit, officers conducted a stop-and-search on a suspicious person on the R21 near the Engen 1-Stop.

“He was found to be in possession of five packets of crystal methamphetamine and was arrested,” he said.

“Upon arrest, the suspect offered the police R150 for his release. An additional charge of bribery has been brought against him.”

Nyaope (heroine), cocaine and dagga were confiscated.

Stolen vehicles that were recovered during the operation included:
• A grey Renault Sandero, the occupant of the vehicle was arrested in Kolan Street, Dersley, reported as stolen in Tsakane.
• A silver Mercedes-Benz in Woth Road, Lakefield, reported as stolen in Nelspruit.
• A grey Volkswagen Touran on the N3 at the Barry Marais off-ramp, reported hijacked in Pretoria West.
• A silver Renault Sandero was found on the N12 highway, reported stolen in Pretoria West.
• A white Nissan NP200 was recovered in Sendzangakhona Street, Thembisa, reported as hijacked in the same area.
