Over 100 gas stoves were recently discovered at a plot in Putfontein after police officers received a tip-off about the stolen goods.
According to Crystal Parks SAPS spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mopeli, police officers from Putfontein SAPS got information that the gas stoves were stolen around Crystal Park.
“Police officers from Putfontein SAPS and Crystal SAPS rushed to the given address where they found security guards at the gate. The security guards mentioned that the owners of the suspicious goods would arrive soon,” she said.
Mopeli said the police officers waited until six people arrived at the property to load the gas stoves and when police asked them questions about the goods, they subsequently failed to explain or produce purchase slips. Crystal Park police spokesperson said 171 gas stoves were found at the plot.
The men were arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property. They recently appeared before the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
