Water police recover another four bodies
Inquest dockets in all cases have been opened and are currently being investigated.
Members of the SAPS Gauteng Water Policing and Diving Services, a unit which forms part of Rapid Response Services (RRS), have recovered four bodies in separate incidents, from November 10 to 16.
According to Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, units were deployed to recover a decomposed body from a swamp in Evaton.
“On November 12, officers responded to a call in Cullinan where a body was recovered from a small dam,” said Giblin.
“The victim had suffered head trauma.”
Further recoveries included the body of a man in a spruit in Pretoria Moot as well as the body of an 18-year-old in the Klipriver, Kliptown.
Giblin once again appealed to members of the community to remain vigilant when entering bodies of water such as dams and lakes.
“With more rain being forecast we urge residents to avoid crossing rivers and streams. Where possible use dedicated bridges and ensure that children are not playing near water.”
