UPDATE: Police confirm murder victim in Impala Park was 57 years old

The victim's car and firearm were reportedly stolen.

THE LATEST INFORMATION:

Police are on the hunt for the suspect/s who committed murder, arson, house robbery and theft of motor vehicle in Impala Park on January 6.

According to police spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, Boksburg North police attended a scene of arson at a home in Elizabeth Road at around 06:00.

“On arrival they found the house with the bedroom having been burnt and the kitchen full of water. In the bedroom they saw the body of a white male on the floor burnt beyond recognition,” said Sekgobela.

“Neighbours told police the 57-year-old victim had lived alone. It is suspected the victim was robbed and killed and his car was taken by the suspect/s. The vehicle was a Honda Civic,” she added.

The police are appealing to members of the community who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect/s to come forward.

The Boksburg Advertiser is on scene in Elizabeth Road, Impala Park, where the body of pensioner (75) was found inside a house that had been set alight, in the early hours of this morning (January 6).

The scene has been occupied by police and other services since, with a police cordon near the front door and an adjoining window which clearly shows burglar proofing that was lifted to gain entry.

A well-placed source told the newspaper it was a suspected house robbery that led to the tragedy at around 02:00 this morning. The victim’s Honda vehicle and firearm are reportedly missing.

The Boksburg Advertiser has not been able to talk to the family yet, who requested the victim’s name be withheld until they do speak to us.

The victim’s cause of death is under investigation. We are yet to get official response on the incident from Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services and Boksburg North SAPS.
