Ekurhuleni metro to hold public hearings on AG’s report

Unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure to top the agenda when authorities face ratepayers.

The City of Ekurhuleni invites members of the public to attend public meetings set to engage residents on the audit report recently released by the Auditor General of South Africa recently.

The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) pointed out that paramount to the discussions will be the AG’s findings on the city’s unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure (UIFW) for the 2022/23 financial year.

The issues raised by the AG on the UIFW were referred to MPAC to guide the council on the way forward and report back to council at the end of April 2024.

The public meetings will be held at the Germiston Council chambers on March 26: 10:00, and April 5: 10:00.

For more information regarding the hearings the public can contact Vusi Dlamini on 011 999 5955 or 082 360 5194.
