BFS cracks the whip on drug dealers
Dagga estimated at R30 000 was recovered following a high-speed chase.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) dealt suspected drug dealers a blow, arresting one and intercepting a large haul of dagga on April 17.
According to BFS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the day’s successes kicked off at 10:30 in Kemston Avenue when officers received information of a man allegedly selling drugs.
“Upon their arrival, a 35-year-old foreign national was identified by a member of the community,” said Giblin.
“Officers proceeded to search the suspect during which 18 doses of heroin and 19 of cocaine, wrapped in plastic were recovered.”

Continuing with routine operations and patrols BFS members noticed a white Toyota Hilux fitted with blue lights travelling on the N12 at night.
“Suspecting that the vehicle did not belong to the SAPS fleet, officers gave chase,” he said.
“Taking the Etwatwa off-ramp a high-speed chase onto a nearby dirt road ensued as the driver attempted to escape.”
Shortly after the vehicle was found abandoned on Mampane Street, Daveyton.

Following a search of the vehicle, two large bags containing dagga and dash-mounted blue lights were found.
“The value of the drugs is estimated at R30 000,” said Giblin.
“The vehicle was impounded and the drugs handed over to the Daveyton Police Station as evidence.”
Investigations into the matter continue while police are continuing their search for the driver.
