Benoni resident receives international award

The Farramere resident said winning the international award has fuelled the motivation to continue with their mission with even greater zeal.

The founder of Be the Best Version of Yourself Foundation, Nolan Pillay, has added to his list of various accolades a Humanitarian and Ignite Leader of Change Award, which he received recently in Las Vegas.

The Benoni transformational coach and speaker was invited to deliver a signature talk at a two-day event entitled Ignite Gatherama, where passionate and inspiring individuals from around the globe gathered to connect and celebrate each other.

“I was shocked when they called my name. The emotions were overwhelming. I have won many awards throughout my life, mainly in the sporting arena but this is the first in our purpose-driven work.

“On a personal level, this award is a validation of the hard work, dedication and passion I poured into our humanitarian projects in South Africa.

“It is also a reminder that perseverance and commitment to a cause can lead to significant recognition and impact.

Nolan Pillay says thank you after winning the Humanitarian and Ignite Leader of Change Award in Las Vegas.

“For our foundation, this award signifies global acknowledgement of the positive changes we are striving to bring about.”
Pillay added the award is just the fuel they need to continue their work with even greater zeal.

“This recognition can help us attract more support, partnerships and resources, which are all crucial for expanding our reach and impact.”

The Farrarmere resident, who has summited Kilimanjaro in Tanzania several times to raise funds for various projects, is planning to summit again this year.

In 2022, a team of five deaf climbers summitted Mount Kili and, as a result, Pillay’s foundation has been able to give the gift of hearing to five children.

“Partnering with two incredible local non-profits, Beacon of Care (cancer organisation) and Thandanani Centre (mental wellness organisation), we are putting our lives on the line to support these vital causes.

Benoni transformational coach and speaker Nolan Pillay recently bagged a Humanitarian and Ignite Leader of Change Award in Las Vegas.

“This year, our climb will begin on August 26 and we aim to reach the summit on September 1.”
Through the foundation’s second project, Let’s Think and Grow Rich, they plan to create 3 375 jobs over the next five years.

“Our unwavering focus is on empowering the youth, providing them with opportunities and the skills they need to transform their futures and uplift their communities.

“We urgently need sponsors for our upcoming climb in August and would appreciate any support. In return, we are honoured to fly the flag of our sponsors atop this glorious mountain,” Pillay said.
