Project benefits 100 families
NPOs unite to make a difference in the lives of others.
For the past five years, A Way Out, situated in Fairleads has been extending a helping hand to families in need.
Supplying registered beneficiaries with food hampers, clothing and words of inspiration, it is Toni and André Kruger’s vision that the hand-outs offer short term relief whilst recipients complete programmes and fellowship to aid them on a journey of sustainability.
Following a successful food drive hosted by Homestead Helpers for Benoni at Pick n Pay at the Sheridan Centre, Farrarmere, the community involvement organisation partnered with The Humanity Foundation, Team Hope SA and The Tshisusu Foundation to sort and package donated items for distribution at the A Way Out facilities, on July 27.
After enjoying a hearty cup of soup, 100 families were gifted with much needed food hampers, toiletries including sanitary products, blankets and toys.
“This project showed the power of community,” said Toni.
“The true spirit of ubuntu was most certainly alive. I would like to thank all the amazing sponsors that supported us to make this possible.”
