Theft of copper cables
A 37-year-olf driver of a white Hino truck was arrested on November 26, after he was found in possession of suspected stolen copper cable.
While conducting routine stop-and-search operations, members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) brought the truck to a stop on Lancaster Road, Actonville.
A search of the vehicle as well as its cargo led to the discovery of the cabling with an estimated value of R150 000.
Rapid Response Services (RRS)
A total of 107 suspects were arrested across Gauteng, by members of the Flying Squad, K9 Unit and Highway Patrol that falls under the RRS banner.
Routine operations conducted from November 22 to 28 further led to the recovery of 36 vehicles and 17 unlicensed firearms.
Concentrated operations saw 68 people being arrested on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, rape, crimen injuria, malicious damage to property, possession of illicit cigarettes, housebreaking, contravention of protection order, theft, house robbery, armed robbery, reckless and negligent driving, trespassing, contravention of the immigration act and domestic violence.
Seven suspects were arrested on charges of being in possession of hijacked or stolen vehicles while a further 18 face charges of being in possession on unlicensed firearms.
Heroin, dagga and meth were also confiscated.
