A total of 130 suspects were arrested during combined routine operations.

Possession of drugs
• Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) recovered dagga with an estimated value of R10 000 on February 4.

While conducting routine stop-and-search operations along the N12, officers instructed the driver of a brown Toyota Corolla to stop at the Snake Road on-ramp.

The members found three large bags of dagga in the vehicle and arrested the two occupants, aged 35 and 45.

• Three men aged 30 to 35 were arrested in Etwatwa, Katlehong North and Turvey Street, Benoni for alleged drug-related offences.

The officers recovered cocaine and heroin.

Possession of stolen property
Three men were arrested on February 7, on Pomona Road on charges of being in possession of stolen property.

While conducting routine patrols along the R21, private security members flagged BFS officers. These members caught the suspects loading milling wrap, which is a tar concrete waste belonging to SANRAL, onto their Toyota Hilux. The officers recovered three large bags of the product.

Stolen vehicle
Officers arrested two men, aged 35 and 40, in Goods Road, Brakpan, on February 7 and recovered a stolen gold and black Range Rover Evoque.

A call to the 10111 call centre stated the vehicle men stole the vehicle in Birchleigh.

The vehicle was tracked travelling through Benoni and was brought to a stop in Brakpan.

Abandoned vehicles
• Two abandoned vehicles were recovered on February 5. This includes a white Volkswagen Polo and a white Man truck, recovered in Willow Street, Kempton Park.

Both were reported as hijacked in Cullinan.

• On February 6, a white Nissan 1400 was recovered in Lekaneng Section, Thembisa.

It was reported as stolen in a Primrose case.

Rapid Response Services (RRS)
SAPS units which form part of RRS, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol, arrested 123 suspects across Gauteng, from January 31 to February 6.

Forty-two suspects were arrested on charges including assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, contravention of protection order, theft, domestic violence, fraud, reckless and negligent driving, assault of a police officer, shoplifting, common robbery, house burglary, illegal trading of wildlife, possession of illicit cigarettes, possession of precious metals, sexual assault, contravention of the immigration act, trespassing, murder and armed robbery.

A total of 30 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered and 14 suspects were brought to book on charges of being in possession of these recovered vehicles.

Further policing led to the recovery of six unlicensed firearms, accompanied by six arrests.

Police also arrested 61 suspects on charges of possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated.
