Rotary Anns of Benoni Van Ryn president Lynne Meghigann writes:
On behalf of the Rotary Anns of Benoni Van Ryn, I thank everyone who participated and supported this year’s Beautiful Gardens of Benoni tour on January 24 and 25.
The show was a huge success and raised enough money to support our charities for the coming year.
The projects include:
• supplying lenses and surgical instruments to Dr Agnus, an ophthalmic surgeon who does free cataract removals;
• the Korsmans Conservancy, for the maintenance of the sanctuary and many scientific interventions performed by its members;
• Supplying local underprivileged schools with stationery and school supplies;
• Supporting the Salvation Army with clothing and food.

• Knitting beanies, gloves and warm clothing for needy children during the cold winter.
These are but a few of our ongoing projects focusing on the city’s people and animals.
The Beautiful Gardens of Benoni is, without a doubt, the club’s biggest fundraiser, and it is heart-warming to watch Benonians reconnect with friends with whom they might have lost touch.
A special thanks to the gardeners who opened their properties to us and happily shared their expertise.
Lastly, I thank our members for making the ever-popular tea garden a resounding success. All the snacks, food and sweet treats were world-class.
We appreciate our community’s support and look forward to hosting you all again.
