Taxi drivers seek divine intervention ahead of Easter weekend

Benoni Taxi Association drivers also called for end to taxi violence in area.

Members of the Benoni Taxi Association banded together on April 17 to seek divine protection for all road users and to help reduce accidents over the Easter period.

Dozens of taxi drivers, joined by pastors, gathered at the Lakeside Taxi Rank to pray for safe travels during the busy holiday period.

Taxi driver, Nkosinathi Sangweni formed part of the group of men who attended the prayer session at the Lakeside Rank on April 17.

According to Isaiah Dlamini, since their colleagues will be transporting hundreds of commuters to various destinations, they decided to pray for their safety, and for everyone who will be on the road this weekend.

“We also prayed against violence in the taxi industry that has surged in parts of Gauteng, hoping for peace and unity,” said Dlamini.
