Young indoor cricketer off to world cup
He was selected following his outstanding performance at the ICSA IPT in Cape Town.
Actonville Spurs CC youngster Christian Naik will represent SA at the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) Indoor World Cup in Sri Lanka from September 27 to October 4.
The Jeppe High School for Boys Grade 10 learner was selected for the U16 boys’ national team following his outstanding performance for the Eastern Gauteng Tigers U16 team at the Indoor Cricket SA (ICSA) inter-provincial tournament in Cape Town, earlier this month.
Naik was the Tigers’ fourth highest run scorer with 96 runs from seven matches. His all-round performance also included six wickets as the Tigers claimed a silver.
“Christian’s dedication, skill, and passion for the game have earned him a place among the country’s top young talents.
“Representing both his school and province with pride, his achievement is a testament to his hard work and the support of his coaches and family.
“We are immensely proud of Christian and wish him all the best as he prepares to don the green and gold on the international stage,” said the youngster’s parents Mark and Marlene.
