The Women in Leadership Social Empowerment (WLSE) collaborated with Deloitte, a leading auditing company, to host a volunteer day in Etwatwa to prepare young people for the world of work.

The WLSE is a community development organisation committed to reducing vulnerability among marginalised youth, women and people living with disabilities by providing impactful social reform programs.

Spokesperson Zinhle Mahlangu said the collaboration with Deloitte reflected their shared goal of creating access to opportunities for “underserved communities”.

The event was held in Etwatwa.

“The event brought together dozens of youth and professionals for a day filled with practical hands-on training and mentorship,” said Mahlangu.

“The focus was on empowering young job seekers with critical skills to navigate the job market confidently. Participants received expert guidance on crafting compelling CVs, presenting themselves effectively during interviews, building a strong personal brand and understanding essential workplace etiquette,” she said.

Mahlangu stated that Deloitte’s “full-scale engagement” made the initiative stand out.

“The company mobilised its HR department to offer insights directly from the professionals who are integral to the hiring process.”

She added that the event echoed WLSE’s core mission of fostering leadership capacity and creating economic opportunities for disadvantaged groups.

“We are proud to partner with Deloitte for such a meaningful cause,” Mahlangu said.

“These are the tools young people need to succeed, and this kind of corporate involvement makes a lasting difference. We are honoured to serve as the bridge between big corporations and the youth in our township.”
