Highway search leads to dagga bust in Crystal Park
Two suspects were arrested and charged with having dagga.
The SAPS Highway Patrol officers had a breakthrough during a routine stop-and-search on July 10.
They found two bags of dagga in a car, which led them to a house in Crystal Park with a larger stash.
According to Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli, officers patrolling the N12 near Bedfordview in the direction of Johannesburg stopped a white Toyota Etios. After asking to search the car, officers found two bags of dagga inside.
They immediately arrested the driver, who, during questioning, revealed that he had collected the dagga from a house in Crystal Park.

“The police organised other role players and proceeded to the identified house. It is believed the owner noticed the police vehicles approaching and quickly locked the gate before running inside,” said Mopeli.
Mopeli said the police managed to gain access to the property and apprehended the suspect.
While searching the premises, officers discovered about 20 large sacks containing dagga. They arrested two suspects, aged 45 and 32, and charged them with possession of dagga. They will soon appear in court.
