The police are confident their efforts are making a positive impact in the fight against crime.

Counterfeit money
Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members arrested four people in Kempton Park on charges of being in possession of counterfeit money on July 18.

Following up on a tip-off, officers found the men with eight counterfeit dollar bills, amounting to $800.

Vehicle recovery
• A Toyota Etios was recovered in Kempton Park. It had been reported as hijacked in Edenvale. Two people were arrested.

• Following up on information from a vehicle tracking company, a brown Toyota Stallion was recovered at the Mall@Carnival. It was reported as stolen to the Boksburg North Police Station in May. One person was arrested.

Possession of drugs
Two people were arrested in Primrose on charges of being in possession of drugs. Meth and Mandrax were confiscated.

SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS)
Between July 11 to 15, the SAPS Rapid Response Services, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, held an operation across Gauteng, which resulted in:

• some 49 arrests for serious crimes, including assault common with the intent to cause serious bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of gold bearing material, business robbery, malicious damage to property, driving under the influence of alcohol, contravening the immigration act, hijacking, bribery, drinking in public, contravening a protection order, crimen injuria, perjury, attempted murder, kidnapping, possession of house breaking equipment and theft.;

• recovering 43 hijacked and stolen vehicles. Ten arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles;

• four arrests for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Five weapons were seized;

• some 29 arrests for possession of drugs with the intent to sell. Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
