Church brings joy to residents of Pauline Davis Court
The elderly residents expressed their gratitude for the generous gesture.
Members of the Christian Family Church based in Johannesburg spent their morning on July 26 with the elderly residents of Pauline Davis Court, distributing soup, bread and other treats as part of their monthly outreach initiative.
The residents, visibly delighted, gathered in the communal hall where they socialised, prayed and sang along with their visitors.
According to Annette van Eden from the church, the initiative forms part of their Serve our City outreach day, during which members reach out to the elderly and vulnerable communities across various areas to demonstrate God’s love through acts of service.
“We go out and serve the community by doing joyous work that shows love. We encourage, uplift, speak to them and pray with them during our gatherings.
“Besides visiting the needy, we also fill potholes and paint people’s properties,” said Van Eden.
She added that this was not their first visit to Pauline Davis Court. Last year, the church team also assisted with gardening services at the facility.
